東京に在住のクライアントは、ビジネスや旅行で年に数回札幌に訪れる時のために、このマンションを所有していました。 長年ファミリー向けの分譲マンションをそのまま利用していましたが、特にリビングの部分を非日常を感じてゆったり過ごせる場所へ改装したいという気持ちが大きくなったそうで、私たちにご相談をいただきました。

20年ほど前に、このマンションを気に入って購入に至った１番の決め手は、窓から見える藻岩山の景色だったそうです。 しかし、バルコニーの手すりや、近年建ったという高層マンションが、折角の眺望を邪魔しているように見えました。 また、日差しを遮っていたバーチカルブラインドも、窓を開けたときに高層階の強風になびいて大きな音を立てていました。

私たちの提案は、リビングダイニングと和室をつなげて一つの大きな空間に改修し、素晴らしい眺望に意識が向くように、各部屋で南に面していた窓を覆うように一つの大きな障子をとりつけることでした。

この大きな障子は、様々な機能をもついくつかの部分に分かれています。 手すりや高層マンションを切り取り景色を綺麗に眺めるための雪見障子、 窓の開閉に便利で強風にも耐える引違い障子、 サンルームに出入りするための隠し扉のような障子戸、 サンルームからの日差しを調節する三枚建の障子。 ４つの部分に分かれつつも、障子の升目の大きさは統一することで一つの大きな障子に見え、夜には間接照明によりリビング全体を照らす行灯にもなります。

壁天井と床はグレーのワントーンとし、窓の外の景色やクライアントのこだわりのインテリアを浮き立たせています。

The client, who lives in Tokyo, owned this apartment for the purposes of visiting Sapporo several times a year for business or travel. Although they had been using the family-friendly condominium as is for many years, they had a strong desire to renovate the living room in particular into a place where they could relax and enjoy a special time away from the everyday, and so they came to us for advice.

About 20 years ago, the main reason they fell in love with this apartment and decided to buy it was the view of Mt. Moiwa from the window. However, the balcony railing and a recently built high-rise apartment building seemed to be blocking the view. Also, the vertical blinds that blocked out the sunlight were flapping in the strong winds from the high floors and making a loud noise when the window was opened.

Our proposal was to renovate the living/dining room and Japanese-style room by connecting them into one large space, and to draw attention to the wonderful view, to install a large shoji screen covering each room's windows facing south.

This large shoji screen is divided into several parts with various functions. A snow-viewing shoji screen cuts out the handrails and high-rise apartment buildings to provide a beautiful view of the scenery, a sliding shoji screen that is easy to open and close and can withstand strong winds, a shoji door that acts as a hidden door for entering and exiting the sunroom, and a three-panel shoji screen that adjusts the amount of sunlight coming in from the sunroom. Although it is divided into four parts, the size of the shoji screen squares is uniform, making it look like one large shoji screen, and at night it also functions as a lantern that illuminates the entire living room with indirect lighting.

The walls, ceiling and floor are all in a single tone of grey, highlighting the view outside the window and the client's carefully selected interior accessories.
