札幌の商業施設の屋外通路で開催されるクリスマスマーケット用の什器を計画しました。求められたのは、収納性や搬出入のしやすさといった機能性に加え、各店舗のサイン機能や、マーケット全体としての「風景」をかたちづくる記号性でした。

私たちは、それらの要望に応えるかたちとして、A型看板をモチーフとした什器を提案しました。街中でも広く周知されていることの看板形式をそのまま什器化することで、一目で「店」としての記号性をもたせるとともに、折りたたむことでコンパクトに収納できる可搬性も確保しています。

「風景をつくる」というコンセプトのもと、都市の中に埋没することなく、マーケット全体に存在感と軽やかな一体感が生まれるよう、開口部の形状や什器全体の色彩を検討しました。また、前面には有孔合板を用いることで、各店舗が自由に装飾を施せるようにし、それぞれのお店の個性や「らしさ」が表現されることを意図しています。

We planned the fixtures for a Christmas market held in the outdoor passage of a shopping facility in Sapporo. In addition to functionality such as storage and ease of loading and unloading, we also wanted a symbolic presence that would create a sign function for each store and a "scenery" for the market as a whole.

In response to these requests, we proposed fixtures with an A-shaped sign motif. By using the sign format that is widely known in the city as fixtures, it gives the symbolic presence of a "store" at a glance, and also ensures portability by being folded up for compact storage.

Based on the concept of "creating a scene," we considered the shape of the openings and the color of the entire fixtures to create a presence and a light sense of unity for the entire market without being lost in the city. In addition, by using perforated plywood on the front, each store can decorate freely, with the intention of expressing the individuality and "uniqueness" of each store.
